Frequently asked questions

Do I need the certificate or blister packaging for my bar?

Not necessarily. A certificate or the original sealed packaging makes authentication easier, but we also buy bars without papers after testing.

How is the price for bullion coins calculated?

What counts is the coin's fine gold content and today's price. A Krugerrand, for example, contains exactly one troy ounce of fine gold (31.1 g), even though the coin weighs slightly more because of its 22-carat alloy.

Do you buy collector coins?

We primarily value gold and silver coins by their precious metal content. For historic coins with obvious collector value, we will tell you openly whether selling to a specialised numismatist would be better for you.

Do I have to pay tax when selling gold?

In Germany, gains from selling physical gold are generally tax-free for private individuals if more than one year has passed between purchase and sale. For your individual case please consult a tax adviser; we do not provide tax advice.
